Adult Play-dough

Summary

Description

I was experimenting with my xmas rum ball recipe. I pondered making rum balls with Blue Curaçao instead of rum. I also skipped the cocoa and substituted honey for the dark corn syrup.

Well, this did not make blue/smurf balls as I'd hoped. This dough ended up being a pale green. I tried adding extra blue food coloring, but it barely touched teal, and I was afraid to add anymore dye.

The real tragedy is that this tasted great and I did not want to waste it. The Curaçao gave it a wonderful orange citrus flavor. Then, well, I can only blame this on the alcohol, but I decided I would call this Adult Play-Dough! Now you CAN play with your food!

Ingredients

  • 2 1⁄2 c crushed vanilla wafers
  • 1 c powdered sugar
  • 3 T honey
  • 1⁄4 c Blue Curaçao liqueur

Instructions

1. In a food processor, blender, or by hand if you must, crush one box of vanilla wafers into fine crumbs.
2. In a medium or large bowl, mix well the vanilla wafer crumbs and the powdered sugar.
3. Mix the honey into the Curaçao and then mix into the crumbs and sugar until blended very well.
4. This will form a dough, but for really smooth consistency, put this into a food processor and pulse until it form a thick, almost solid clay-like dough. (For this I only recommend a food processor, not your blender. You can knead it by hand if you like until you are happy with the result.)
5. Have fun rolling it out and cutting into shapes like play-dough.

Notes

Note that one 11 oz box of vanilla wafers crushes almost perfectly to the 2 1/2 cups of crumbs needed.
